Today Is My Day

Its been a while since I’ve blogged. Life is just so crazy! Y’all know. I’ve been in the grind with doctors’ appointments, treatments, scans, kids, and [obviously] the pandemic and the many troubles that that has thrust upon us all. I think the first semester of virtual learning with my 7 year old first-grader was a close second to chemo on how bad it sucked. I’m no teacher. Bless all of you who are. Unsung heroes.

I feel like I’m having a bit of writer’s block so I’m just gonna get right down to the brass tacks that you’re here for: my cancer. I have spent the last two weeks getting treatment, having bloodwork, getting a full-body bone scan, a chest/abdomen/pelvis CT scan and a brain MRI. As my fellow cancer thrivers know, scan times are the worst, most anxious times. The scans themselves, especially the brain MRI, are not particularly enjoyable and then waiting for the results is just pure torture. Kind of like what I’m doing to you right now! Well, I’m happy to report that it is all good news! There has been NO progression in my body! My bones are clean, my primary tumor is still gone, there are no new cancerous lesions in my liver and all of my lymph nodes are normal! Also, per my bloodwork, my tumor marker number has remained stable! And the BIGGEST NEWS of all is my brain MRI results showed there has been no progression there, either! That is HUGE!!!!! That makes 6 months of absolutely no progression whatsoever in my brain. The medicine is working. Knock on wood. Praise God.

It is not an easy life I live. I have to choose everyday to not let my life be built around cancer. Which is probably one reason I haven’t been blogging. I’ve been living! And I think being able to do that has made a positive impact on my overall well-being.

Given that it is still March I want to leave you with a few quotes of my favorite Dr. Seuss book that serves as a reminder that I’m in charge of me and my attitude.

Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

I’m sorry to say so

but, sadly, it’s true

that Bang-ups

and Hang-ups

can happen to you.

On and on you will hike.

And I know you’ll hike far

and face up to your problems

whatever they are.

…you’re off to Great Places!

Your mountain is waiting.

So…get on your way!

Thank you for all the prayers! They are working! God is Good!
