It’s A Ride

I feel like my life is a roller coaster that is often stuck upside down. I’m just hanging in the balance and hoping for the best. Well yesterday I got the best. I had a follow-up brain MRI after my latest rounds of radiation and it showed that my brain is all clear. That’s right…ALL CLEAR!!! My Radiation Oncologist said its the quickest he’s ever seen a resolve like that in his 25 years of experience. He even had another Radiation Oncologist and a Physicist look at the scan before he brought the results to me because he wanted to be absolutely certain that he was looking at it right. He told me it doesn’t get any better than this. It truly is nothing short of amazing. Maybe even a miracle? I honestly didn’t know how to react. I’m always so prepared, so steeled for bad news that to get such wonderful news as this was like what?! And I was told that having such a great response in my brain is a good indicator of what is going on in my body, too, since the brain is the hardest to treat. We are attributing this massive success to not only the radiation but also to the new medications I’m on. They have the capability to cross the blood-brain barrier and that is HUGE. I will find out for sure how the cancer below my neck is responding on October 14th when I have a CT scan. I feel really good about it though. For the first time in a long time I don’t have the overwhelming feeling that I’m dying. And I’m soaking it in.

Thank you, God. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for me. Thank you to all of my amazing Doctors; y’all are heroes in my book. Thank you science and medicine.
